Staggered-Vent Olympic Broadcast Rackmounts
Customized rackmount cases designed to transport and deploy temperature-sensitive, high-value broadcast equipment.
The broadcast equipment featured ventilation ports on both the right and left sides. When cases were positioned adjacent to one another, warm exhaust air from one unit risked entering the intake ports of neighboring cases, potentially causing overheating issues.
Impact utilized 3D para-solid modeling to engineer modified rackmount cases with staggered side ventilation panels. This configuration ensured that warm air exiting one case directed toward warm air from its neighbor, while intake ports faced each other on the opposite side, preventing thermal crossover.
- 3D para-solid modeled design
- Modified standard case
- Staggered access panels for side venting
A national television network required these cases for shipping and deploying mission-critical equipment during Olympic Games broadcast coverage from London.
The client initially ordered 2 cases. Upon reviewing the final product, they expanded their order, recognizing Impact's solution as essential for maintaining broadcast quality during this significant live event.
